📖 Client Server Model
One of the key decisions that led to HL7® FHIR®1’s success was to use modern web technologies. The modern web is largely based on a client-server-model.
The client-server model is like the interaction between you and a waiter at a restaurant. You - the client - ask the waiter - the server - for food - data or services. The waiter takes your order to the kitchen - the server processes your request - and brings the food back to you - the server sends data back.
In the internet world, your computer or phone - the client - sends requests to servers, which are computers that provide information or services, like websites or apps.
